Lesson Outline
Lesson 1: This is Me – Students represent themselves as individuals through a self-portrait, describing their place within their family.
Lesson 2: The Story of Me – Students illustrate how they have changed over time, from babyhood to the present.
Lesson 3: All Grown Up – Students draw and describe their aspirations for what they want to be when they grow up.
Lesson 4:Born and Raised -Students identify where they were born and raised, connecting it to their family’s history.
Lesson 5: My Family and I – Students draw and name the people in their family to understand familial connections.
Lesson 6: Family Facts – Students describe and share facts about their family members, highlighting unique traits and similarities.
Lesson 7: Comparing Families – Students create graphs comparing the number of people in their families to explore differences and similarities.
Lesson 8: My Family Tree – Students create a family tree to visualize relationships between family members.
Lesson 9: Family Origins – Students learn about a family member’s origins, including where they were born and raised, to appreciate their stories.
Lesson 10: The Family Machine – Students compare their family with an imaginative family, identifying similarities and differences and exploring how families can connect.
Important:
This unit has recently been revised and updated to align with the Australian V9 curriculum, so the V8 version is included as an option too (some content continues to overlap).
